The EOSC EU Node continues to evolve with new releases for both users and contributors designed to simplify day-to-day research workflows and support the development of the EOSC Federation.
Just released, the latest updates introduce new capabilities and training materials for researchers using the platform. They also provide eligible organisations with clearer tools and services for onboarding their offerings to the EOSC EU Node, helping make them available within a shared and interoperable EOSC environment. In parallel, the EOSC EU Node now supports the EOSC Federation’s Node registration workflow through dedicated technical services for Nodes.
Together, these improvements strengthen the EOSC EU Node as a gateway for accessing services, managing resources, supporting collaboration, and contributing to a more connected European Open Science ecosystem.
Developments for contributors
- Contributors Dashboard
The Contributors Dashboard provides a dedicated space for organisations to register as Contributors and onboard their services, data sources, or training materials directly to the EOSC EU Node. Through the Dashboard, authorised representatives can submit onboarding requests, provide the required information, and follow the steps needed for review, validation, and technical onboarding. This gives Contributors a clearer and more structured way to make their resources available through the EOSC EU Node, while ensuring that each contribution meets the relevant technical, operational, and policy requirements.

Developments for users
- Binder
Binder is now available within Interactive Notebooks, helping researchers share reproducible and interactive computing environments alongside their notebooks. With Binder, authors can include the files needed to recreate a notebook environment, such as software requirements, tools, dependencies and build instructions. This allows others to launch the notebook in the same environment used by the author. Unlike the standard Interactive Notebooks service, which runs notebooks in a predefined environment, Binder builds the runtime environment according to the author’s specifications. This supports more transparent, reproducible, and reusable research workflows by enabling others to replicate, explore and build on the original work more easily.

Cloud Container Platform now includes Database as a Service (DBaaS), making it easy to add and use databases without managing the underlying infrastructure. Instead of deploying and maintaining database clusters, users can quickly provision production-ready, high availability databases through a simple, standardised process. Secure, standardised configurations reduce the risk of misconfiguration while still allowing advanced users to customise selected parameters when needed. By automating redundant database deployment and operations, the service reduces operational overhead and allows users to focus on their applications and scientific work instead of managing database infrastructure.

Two dedicated learning paths for researchers have been designed to support users at different stages of their journey with the platform.
The EOSC EU Node Foundation Explorer learning path introduces the core features of the platform, helping researchers build a solid understanding of how to access, navigate, and benefit from the EOSC EU Node. For users who wish to deepen their knowledge, the EOSC EU Node Research Practitioner learning path offers a more advanced exploration of the features, tools, and services for the platform, supporting more effective and confident use of EOSC EU Node resources in research workflows. Upon completing each learning path, participants can earn a digital badge, which can be shared and showcased as evidence of their acquired knowledge and skills.

Developments for Nodes
- Node Registration
The EOSC EU Node also provides technical support for the registration of Nodes and their data sources within the EOSC Federation.
Through the registration workflow, authorised representatives can submit the required information and data sources for validation against Federation requirements. Following successful validation from the EOSC Tripartite Group, Nodes can be listed in the Resource Hub Node Registry, with relevant content incorporated into the EOSC EU Node Resource Catalogue to support visibility and discovery across the Federation.

These summer releases mark another step in the evolution of the EOSC EU Node, with improvements that support both day-to-day research workflows as well as the build-up of the EOSC Federation. All features will also include policy updates, to stay updated on these, watch out for notifications in your User Space where these will be communicated.
Additional enhancements are already in development and will be presented at the EOSC Symposium 2026, including Monitoring as a Service, new Kubernetes capabilities, dedicated training for Contributors and further improvements that will continue to strengthen the EOSC Federation ecosystem.
