EOSC EU Node Access Policy Updated: Clearer roles, more credits, smarter access

EOSC EU Node Access Policy updated: Clearer roles, more credits, smarter access

Effective May 30, 2025

The EOSC EU Node is taking a major leap forward! After six months of enabling cutting-edge research across Europe, we are excited to unveil an updated User Access Policy that makes accessing EOSC services simpler, fairer, and more powerful.

The new version reflects direct feedback from our users. It brings clearer user roles, increased credit allocations, and expanded access to compute services, ensuring that the platform keeps pace with the needs of Europe’s research community.

This update represents our commitment to putting researchers first by making the platform more intuitive and more inclusive with a wide variety of resources to be used. We have listened carefully to our users and evolved the policy to better support their profiles and scientific missions.

What's new

Clearer Access Roles

We are updating the policy document to better represent technical codes (such as AP-0, AP-A) with more intuitive names: Explorer, Observer, Collaborator, and Investigator. Each role is clearly aligned with specific user needs and permissions, making it easier to understand your access level at a glance. This change will also be reflected in the User Space in the coming weeks.

More Credits, Automatically

  • AP-A1 users (Collaborators): now receive 500 credits (previously 100).
  • AP-B users (Investigators): now receive 1,500 credits per user and 3,000 per group (previously 500 and 1000 respectively).
  • Credits replenish every 90 days, as usual.

Smarter Service Access

  • AP-A1 users (Collaborators) now have access to Small-size Virtual Machine and Container environments and Medium-size Notebooks.
  • AP-B users (Investigators) enjoy instant, no-approval access to previously gated Large-size environment sizes including GPU resources.
