Accelerate Your Research with the EOSC EU Node Tools Hub

The EOSC EU Node Tools Hub Accelerate Your Research

The EOSC EU Node is taking another step forward in empowering researchers with an expanded Tools Hub, now featuring an even broader selection of research software and platforms, all ready for instant deployment.

The Tools Hub is where you can find and use a full range of research tools that are automatically deployed on EOSC EU Node infrastructure. Whether it is data processing, workflow automation, or advanced analytics, the Tools Hub brings together reliable applications in one easy-to-access place, relieving researchers from interacting with underlying infrastructures and letting them have more time for their research.

Designed for everyone: From beginners to advanced users

Are you new to cloud computing? The Tools Hub allows you to deploy software applications on provisioned Virtual Machines (VMs) or containers running on the EOSC EU Node infrastructure, without requiring in-depth technical knowledge.

Are you an advanced researcher or developer? You can use TOSCA templates to get the maximum benefit of infrastructure-as-code via structured files with the details of your computational environment in terms of the nodes, operating systems, software dependencies, storage volumes, and security parameters. You can therefore define, deploy, and manage complex applications accurately and in a way that can be reproduced.

Available applications

Tools Hub is a platform that offers an expanding list of applications, current ones include:

  • Virtual Machines: a service to deploy tailored computing environments
  • Galaxy: a web-based platform for data intensive biomedical research
  • VS Code: a popular lightweight code editor with support for development and debugging
  • DaskHub: a scalable environment for parallel and distributed computing in Python

We keep adding new tools regularly to serve the ever-changing research requirements.

The Tools Hub is also your platform to publish your relevant deployment templates, so other users can use them. We double-check and curate your templates before publication.

Try it out: Watch the video demo in which a user visits their EOSC EU Node User Space and allocates a Virtual Machine, sets up a Simple Compute Node, and sets up a Galaxy environment to perform efficient data processing.

Key Benefits

  • One-Stop Access – Get access to a list of research tools produced through the hard work and dedication of different specialists and tailored to meet your research requirements.
  • Interoperability – Tools are designed using standards-based language descriptions, allowing them to be seamlessly deployed within the EOSC EU Node infrastructure.
  • Reliability – Tools go through rigorous quality checks ensuring secure and trustworthy use.
  • Extensibility – Share your tools with the community and facilitate computational reproducibility across research projects in Europe.

The cost of computational resources is covered by the European Commission, and virtual credits to use resources are automatically allocated to you the first time you log in, in correspondence with your access group. Tools are deployed over EOSC EU Node service providers, and the specific environments a user has allocated (consuming their credits).
